Now you can stream your favorite videos, photos and music to your TV via iPhone or iPad
iMediaShare is a multimedia app for iPhone and iPad that allows you to connect your device to external monitors through a Wi-Fi connection. Whether you want to watch videos files, view your photo collection, or browse popular websites for interesting videos, iMediaShare provides you with an interface to watch a variety of content on your TV.
Setting up the app requires first and foremost, a Wi-Fi connection, and a Wi-Fi enabled TV. There’s also an option to connect to an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but after going through the app’s setup it became increasingly obvious that this is a feature that still needs some fine tuning as there were several times when the app simply wouldn’t detect any of the devices.
However once the app manages to locate a device you are taken to a screen where you can begin browsing videos from websites such as YouTube, Vimeo, discovery channel, and various news networks. The streaming speed is fairly fast when playing HD videos and considerably faster for non HD videos which is good news if you’re planning on watching long videos online.
There are also media import options that give you the ability to import music, photos, and videos straight from your device and view them in full screen on your TV. Although not all TVs support playing videos from your gallery, the app does support several network media players such as Apple TV, Sony Blu-ray, Popcorn Hour, and WD TV Live.
With the full version of iMediaShare you are able to view all your videos without any ads and there are also a bunch of HD channels added to the list. While this is far from a perfect multimedia app for iPhone and iPad, it does offer a good solution for anyone looking for a quick way to connect their devices to a TV.
iMediaShare, also available as iMediaShare Lite, is compatible with iOS 6.0 or above and costs $4.99 to upgrade to the full version.
