Prodo Digital brings the old Rubik’s Cube to the iPhone. Three game modes hold the users interest and provides for different levels of challenges. There is the classic arcade mode, time attack which is a new spin of the basic puzzler game where you try and replicate the pattern shown on the screen as quickly as possible, and pass & play which is played by multiple people on the same device. As you can see there are some pretty neat options over the traditional puzzle game.

The settings are pretty generic, and you don’t need to get bogged down in the details, just select your game mode and start putting the pieces together. The tile movement in Rubik’s Race is great. Basically you have a square with a center area which counts as your main puzzle where the colored cubes are arranged. Around the perimeter are other colored blocks that are slid and maneuvered into the playing area to score points and advance through the various game types. There are some neat effects once you complete transitions and the upbeat music will help motivate you through the games. Another great plus is Rubik’s Race is Game Center enabled.

This game can be just as fun, and sometimes as maddening as the original hand held classic, definitely a game that can be played for hours. Rubik’s Race is a great twist on a timeless classic.
