Aw, who thought these cute creatures could make a puzzle so challenging?! Puzzle Tales is an enjoyable jigsaw puzzle game available for the iPhone and iPad (our review is based on the iPhone version) where you unscramble the pieces to form a complete puzzle depicting adorable dogs and cats.

In the first “tale” we are presented with an image upon touching, scatters its pieces to be reassembled.  There is a catch though; to rack up the points and earn “paws” we race against the clock to complete these quickly. The pieces are manipulated by sliding, and the control is very responsive.  Upon completing these jigsaw puzzles, you may receive a nice message from our fury on-screen friends!

The developers at Rivet Games don’t let us off easy however, as the difficulty increases with each puzzle you successfully complete. In all honesty, the puzzles were much harder than anticipated, but there are hints and clues provided if you really get stumped. Puzzle Tales features 12 initial puzzles in the free app, along with some extras, and through in-app purchase, you can unlock over 100 different, challenging puzzles, though you will have to deal with pesky ads in the free version.

As an animal fan, one can truly appreciate the puzzle themes; Puzzle Tales contains enough adorable puppy and kitten imagery to put an animal lover’s calendar to shame, and the high definition images really brings these cuddly creatures to life on the device. Puzzle Tales is a dual purpose app; learning development tool for young children, and a simple mental break for adults.
