NoteLedge is a note taking app that transforms your iPad into a fully featured notebook you can use to record your thoughts and share ideas. The app contains several useful features designed for anyone who needs a solid platform for taking notes in class, at work, or anywhere else for that matter.

Once you’ve installed the app on your device, you are greeted with a simplistic brown interface containing four drop down menus leading to the PDF, Map, and Calendar and Archive screens. You can create a notebook by tapping on any one of the menus except for the PDF menu, which is reserved for notebooks that are saved as PDF files.

Tapping on the map menu item takes you to a screen where you can view the location of all your notes. Each time you add a new notebook, the app automatically detects your location so you can filter your notes according to different locations. You can also filter notebooks according to dates by tapping on the Calendar option in the app’s main menu.

At the top of each notebook screen is a help icon that you can tap on to get more information about the different features of the app. If you want to view all your notes, tap on the Archive option and you’ll be able to view all your notes and customize each notebook. Although the free version of the app only limits you to creating 3-page notebooks, you can upgrade to the full version to remove this limit.

The notebook screen is well organized and feature-rich. You can select your writing utensil by tapping on the options on the right side of the screen then pick the colors you want to use from the options on the left side of the screen. There are also options to add text, audio, videos and photos to each page, and a share button to share your notes on social media or email.

NoteLedge is free to download from the iTunes app store and requires iOS 5.0 or later.
