Despite the many, many applications in today’s market for every kind of gadget, it is very rare that we find a single game that is the whole package. More often than not, there is an aspect or two where an app comes up short—whether in game play or appearance or some other.

Just Funny Games tries to overcome this common occurrence by producing a game for the iPhone and iPad that’s about as good as an application can get. Check out Jake Escapes!, a new arcade game that provides plenty of excitement and action.

The premise is that Jake, the world’s greatest thief, is now bored of his profession and is seeking thrills elsewhere. More specifically, he has now stolen an alien artefact and is on the run from everyone, while attempting to handle the greatest power in the world.

Users help Jake climb buildings while blasting enemies from different windows. There are different objectives for every level, as well as different placements of the enemies to make things more difficult.

Game play is easy to get a hang of, as you simply swipe the screen to control the character’s movements. Jake Escapes! is responsive and quick, so there are no frustrating losses and stalls.

There are only 17 levels to the game, meaning it can be finished quite quickly. Hopefully, future versions of this game will offer longer game play along with more challenging levels. Despite the relative shortness of the entire game, the quality will not leave you disappointed. The 3D graphics are stunning, especially with the new iPad’s retina screen display. Even in the iPhone or iPod Touch, one will be able to appreciate the craftsmanship of the game designers with the detailed backgrounds and excellent graphics. Of Jake Escapes!
