The Heidi Story Collection is an app for iPad based on the classic series of children’s books by Johanna Spyri. The 3-in-1 collection includes: Heidi on the Alp, Heidi in Frankfurt and Heidi and Klara.
Heidi was first published 1880 and has since entertained entire generations of children with stories about family, friendships and moral values. The iPad edition has been updated for both children and adult audiences. The children’s version is narrated through Heidi’s perspective while the version for older readers is adapted in a third person’s perspective.
The narrations in both versions are easy to understand and can be started and stopped anytime. Background ambient elements such as the sounds of birds chirping, cows mooing and bells ringing can also be heard throughout each of the stories. The result is subtle yet effective.
There is also a “bits and bobs” section which includes neat features such as spot-the-differences, quizzes and fun facts. These are all great interactive additions to the app which help the reader become a part of the story to a greater extent.
The developers of Heidi Story collection have gone to great lengths to make this app as similar to the original print storybook as possible. This means that you won’t see any in-app purchases, sharing options or ads anytime while using this app. Although this can be seen as a limitation by today’s app standards, it certainly does make for a less distracting user experience and allows you to focus more on the content than anything less.
Anyone who owns the original collection of Heidi stories would be more than satisfied with this app. The Heidi Story Collection is available for iPad only at a price $5.99. You save $2.99 by getting the 3-in-1 collection.
The Heidi story collection came in third in the Top 5 iPhone and iPad Apps of the Week (10/4/12) on the app review aggregation site appmyworld.com!
To celebrate this, the app is $5.99 (RPR 8.99) for this weekend only!
This story collection contains the three single apps 'Heidi on the alp', 'Heidi in Frankfurt' and 'Heidi and Klara'.

Are you looking for a classic, timeless story to share with your children that is also relevant today? Do you want to buy ebooks that:
– deal with topics like the importance of home, family, friendship and loyalty?
Then look no further than the Heidi apps! For many of us, the name Heidi conjures memories of childhood. This story of a little girl who charms all (or at least most!) of those around her has been working its magic with children for over 130 years. When it was published in 1880, the subtitle of Johanna Spyri's book was "for children and those who love children" and that's just as true today.
Now, in addition to the lovely story, the app version of Heidi includes many elements designed specifically to enchant, engage and educate young readers.
– The beautiful and detailed illustrations by Diana Kizlauskas offer a window for modern children through which they can discover the dress, hairstyles and way of life from a bygone age.
There are two versions of the story:
– the second version is longer and told by a narrator. This is ideally suited for older children to read by themselves, but there is a read to me option to encourage reluctant older readers.
In addition to the story itself, each app includes a 'Bits and Bobs' section. The Heidi Collection includes all the extras from all three apps as follows:
– Spot-the-difference pages
