Flight tracking made easy with App in the Air

AppDictions App Review

On a recent flight, my travel companion and I were wondering if there was any application or network out there that would allow us to ask other travelers if the flight into the Caribbean was always this bumpy? Alas, a short while later we have our answer. Up in the Air for the iPhone and iPod Touch seeks to give passengers all of the information they need and then some, when taking to friendly skies.

Developer App in the Air Ltd. builds upon successful yet more expensive iOS flight tracking and travel companion applications with App in the Air.

Upon entering the app and building a profile, the user can input and track their flights, boarding passes and miles and hours travelled. Searching and tracking a certain flight couldn’t be easier and the app features a contextual search which also searches by airport abbreviation for those frequent flyers out there. Once a flight is logged, you can view boarding and departure information including time, terminal and gate.  Passengers and those on the ground can tell exactly where an aircraft is and even if it is still running on time through the app.

You may also be able to discover some useful travel tips from frequent travelers – maybe you should stay away from that a la carte chicken sandwich, or maybe the east bound movie on tonight’s red eye is a real yawner. App in the Air does well to source traveler information and make it easier than ever to share and collaborate.

Have a horrible, turbulence filled flight? Chat about it with passengers or those waiting on the ground. Want to try and connect with that attractive female sitting in 26B you never had the chance to speak to?  Connect to Facebook through the app’s interface.

App in the Air features a sleek and vibrant interface which is large on information, but small on clutter. The navigation is intuitive and well laid out. The advantage App in the Air holds over some popular flight apps include the extensive social media integration, and perhaps more importantly, the price tag – absolutely free of charge.

In all, App in the Air is a solid airline travel companion and has just been released on the market. So when you’re about to go up in the air; make sure you do so with App in the Air.
