iOS App That Lets You Direct Your Own Hollywood Movie

When you think of Hollywood movies, the first scene that will probably come to your mind involves a cliche where the good guy sets off an explosion with just enough time to dive out danger. Over the years Hollywood effects have gotten more realistic and more complex but that hasn't stopped amateur film makers from attempting to recreate these memorable scenes. In fact, there is an iPhone and iPad app called Extreme FX intended for people just like this.

Extreme FX is a powerful real time video editor for iPhone and iPad that gives users the ability to create Hollywood-style effects with ease.  These range from car explosions, meteorite explosions, gun fights and dragon destruction. You can also purchase more effect styles within the app if you need more variety. Some of the effects you can unlock are space invasions, lightning strikes and creator collisions.

Once you select your video effect, the app directs you a video editor where you can shoot your video. You select where you want your effect to appear within the video frame and the app applies the effects in real time. In order for your effects to be applied, the app requires you to shoot a video that’s longer than ten seconds. After you're done you can save your video to your library and share it with others.

Although the app does have a wide selection of effects to choose from, one thing that could be improved is the rendering of some of the effects. They would be a lot better if they were smoother and more polished but considering this is in fact a video editor on a portable device, there is really nothing to complain about. With that said, this app isn’t for people looking for a full fledged video editor on their device. It's simply a way to have fun with your videos when you're bored or feeling creative.
